Güzelyurt Archaeological Museum

The Güzelyurt Archaeological Museum is housed in the former Church of St. Mamas, a striking Ottoman-era conversion of a Gothic church in the centre of Güzelyurt town. The museum displays a comprehensive collection of archaeological artefacts from the surrounding region, spanning from the Neolithic period through the Bronze Age, Hellenistic, Roman, and Byzantine eras. The church building itself, with its beautiful stone architecture, is worth visiting in its own right.

The collection includes pottery, glass, coins, bronze statuettes, and stone tools excavated from nearby sites including Toumba tou Skourou, Soli, and Vouni. A notable feature is the painted iconostasis of the church, which remains in place. The museum provides essential context for understanding the rich archaeological heritage of western North Cyprus and makes an excellent starting point for visits to the nearby ancient sites.
